Dear Mr.President - Pink

Imagine you are a well respected music critic. Please offer your opinion on one of the songs we learned about in class today. Please include details such as the main idea or theme of the song as well as quotes from the lyrics to add depth to your opinion. Be sure to include the writer’s name as well as the name of the song or songs.

I imagine that I am a well-respected music critic. I offer my opinion on the song named "Dear Mr. President". This song is written by Pink. She wanted to talk President Bush. She imagine she is talking with President. She asks some questions in the song. In the song, Mr. President is Gorge Bush. He made some mistakes when he was a President in USA.  He didn’t listen people talking. People wanted to stop with Iraq, but he forced that. People feel more lonely.
Pink wrote that How do you sleep while the rest of us cry? How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye? This most likely refers to the death of American soldiers in Iraq. There are a lot of people died in the Iraq.  Also, she wrote that I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine
. This refers to allegations that Bush had an affinity for alcohol in his youth. Pink refers to cocaine here because of Bush's supposed arrest.

I am really agree with her song. In that time, the President have to listen what people talking about. He have to understand the situation what's going on.

  1. Excellent post Ida!
You seem to have a very clear understanding of the impact that protest music can have on culture. Also, you clearly understand the content of the lyrics.
I look forward to reading more of what you have to say as the semester goes forward.
