The stereotype about John

John was a good-looking,6’5”,250-pound African American man who played football in college. He was a partner in a large law firm and lived in a mostly white suburban neighborhood. Every night when he came home, he would change into his jogging clothes and go for a run through the streets of his town.
At that time, something happened. People usually looking at him and often crossed the street quickly. Also, several times a police patrol car stopped him and asked for his identification. This situation usually happened because they have the stereotype. The stereotype is that African American man is bad person. This prejudging makes people can’t see real person. If they have this stereotype, it will makes person discourage and angry.

  1. Ida,
Do you believe that this really happens in the U.S? Have you seen any evidence of this type of prejudice or stereotyping in the U.S.?
